Hello, I'm Ada.

I'm a scientist-in-training who is interested in understanding the fundamental principles of nature, from the behavior of quantum systems to the remarkable complexity of living things.

A little more about me
01 / ABOUT

Following the questions.

My mission is to develop engineering platforms that can enable scientists to ask fundamental questions about the biological and physical world with greater precision.

Where I come from: I grew up in Bareilly, northern India, attending a small neighborhood school without functioning science laboratories or a well-stocked library. I spent much of my childhood borrowing my mother's old fiction books, and at 17, bought my first laptop to explore machine learning and genetic engineering. At 18, I became the first person in my close family to leave the country to study in the United States, supported by scholarships and grants.

Experience

Research & projects

Developing methods for bacteriophage engineering

Why I chose this project

Bacteriophages are the most evolutionarily diverse species on the planet and provide an efficient chassis for testing molecular engineering strategies, helping me develop a modular understanding of protein and genome design.

Joseph Bondy-Denomy Lab @ UCSF | George Church Lab @ Harvard

Developing methods for mitochondrial engineering

Why I chose this project

The domestication of archaea in ancient bacteria allowed for the rise of multi-cellular species because of the development of an internal control node, today known as the mitochondria. Engineering it can unlock potential for longevity, neuroplasticity, and more.

Computational collaboration @ MIT/Harvard

Building microfluidic devices for vascular engineering

Why I chose this project

I wanted to apply the methods I learned in molecular cloning to tissue-engineering problems in healthcare and interface more with biophysics, through endothelial mechanobiology.

Christopher Chen Lab @ BU & Wyss Institute at Harvard
Other Projects
  • 2024: Engineered bacteria to produce protein sweeteners to target diabetic and calorie-conscious people @ Cellsius Lab in SF (now FrontierTower)Talk
  • 2022-24: Wrote about understanding neural networks from first principles and dissect protein-folding modelsArticles
